What are Warts?

Warts are small harmless tumors on the skin. They are caused by a virus. Warts are contagious, although some people are more resistant to them than others.

Different Types of Warts

Common Warts

Common warts are small hard bumps that usually appear on the fingers, knees and elbows. They resemble cauliflower head with black dots inside. They are rough to the touch.

Flat Warts

Flat warts are about the size of a pinhead. They are smooth with flat tops. They are pink, light brown or yellow in color. They usually appear on the face.

Plantars Warts

Plantars warts appear on the bottom of the feet. They are uncomfortable and give the feeling of walking on small stones.

Filiform Warts

Filiform warts are finger-like in shape. They are flesh-colored and appear around the mouth, nose and eyes.

Genital Warts

There are types of warts that can also appear in the genital area. These warts are sexually transmitted.
